Sandipani Ashram

Sandipani Ashram is around 2 km from Ujjain. It is the hermitage of Sandipani Muni, the tutor of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna and Sudama received regular instruction in this ashram. Gomti Kund, a stepped water tank, is situated near the ashram. It was the source of water supply to the ashram in the olden days. The area near the ashram is known as Ankapata, where Krishna washed Sandipani Muni’s writing tablets. Near Gomti Kund, there is an image of Nandi which belongs to the Shunga period.
