Sandhwan is a small village located 13 km away from
Phagwara in
Nawanshahar District,
Punjab. Major attraction of the hamlet is the Gurdwara Danda Sahib Patshahi Satvin, built in memory of a visit paid by the revered Guru Har Rai Sahib.
A local folktale says that once Guru Sahib struck a Danda (stick) into the soil and it later sprouted into a tree. The origin of Gurdwara’s name is associated with this incident. A dried trunk believed to be that of the same tree still exists at the place.
Phagwara Junction Railway Station serves Sandhwan.
