San Thome(Sao Tome) is an old part of
Panaji which lies at the north of
Fontainhas. It is the area around the present day GPO. Once the building of GPO was used as tobacco house and the building to its right was the mint. The
chapel of St Sebastian is at the southern end of San Thome area. There is a site of public executions in front of the buildings where Panaji’s pillory used to be. It was here where the conspirators of 'Pinto Revolt' were executed. Dozens of old inns that serve cheap Feni crowd the narrow streets of San Thome.
