Samosa Mahal was once the residence of the nobles of
Akbar’s court. It is located on the western slope of the ridge near the northern wall of Jami masjid in
Fatehpur Sikri. Samosa Mahal is a single-storied building planned on an east-west axis.
An enclosure wall was found in the northern portion and this gave the building a triangular shape and hence the name. The main entrance is on the western side. The red and gray sandstone building has a courtyard of irregular shape and adorned with arches. Beautiful paintings are seen at the interior. The southern side has five rooms and is supported by pillars and brackets.
