Sam

Sam is a prominent town in Jaisalmer District of Rajasthan. This desert town is around 40 km to the west of Jaisalmer. Sam Sand Dunes, the favorite tourist spot, is situated here. The nearby towns are Chhilro, Khabha and Dedha, within 20 km. Some of the other tourist attractions accessible from here are Jaisalmer Fort, Tazia Tower, Sonar Quila, Gadi Sagar Tank and Gadsisar Lake. Besides these, Lodurva is a tourist destination that should not be missed. Desert Festival celebrated here, displays the ethnic culture of Rajasthan. This place is also popular for camel safari. The road which passes through Sam merges with National Highway 15 at Jaisalmer. The nearest railhead and airport are Jaisalmer Railway Station and Jaisalmer Airport respectively.
