A Catholic Church, Saint Mary's Forane Church is situated at
Koratty, a village situated 7 km south of
Chalakudi in
Thrissur District. Locally the church is known as Koratty Muthy Church. It is the most revered and renowned Marian pilgrim center after
Velankanni. The church is under the supervision of Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly.
The main altar of the church features the pictures of 12 apostles embossed on a wooden frame. Roopa Pura (built on the lines of ancient Kerala sculpture), statue of Jesus Christ praying in Indian style, a museum, beautifully carved out doors and ancient granite stone cross are main attractions in the church. The internal walls are adorned with beautiful paintings, which portray the important events relating to the life of Mother Mary.
The annual feast, known as Koratty Feast, is celebrated on the second week of October. A procession with band, drum beats and colorful umbrella takes place during the festival.
