Saila Dance is a popular dance performed by men in
Chhattisgarh. All the participants in this group dance form into a circle and move in clockwise direction and anti-clockwise direction. They hold two hard bamboo sticks in their hands. The stick is struck at the stick of the person dancing next to him. The sounds of the strike come out together since the dancers have a unique interval of striking.
The dance leader makes a sound 'kih..ho..kih' to excite all dancers at the end of every song. All performers wear dhoti-kurta and pagdi, tying waist with a lungi or towel.
