Saharsa is the administrative headquarters of
Saharsa District, in Bihar. The town is 130 km north-east of
Patna.
The only major attraction in Saharsa is the Ugratara temple at Maheshi. Ancient designs of
Madhubani paintings, depicting mythological and religious events in bright colors, can be seen adorning the mud walls, in the town. An excursion to the historic sites of
Madhepura and Purnia, the Darjeeling of the poor, will be an enchanting experience.
Nearest airport is at Patna.
Saharsa Junction Railway Station is a major railhead of North Eastern Railway. By road, Saharsa is linked with Supaul, Patna, Madhepura and Madhubani.
