Safdarjung Airport was the first airport in
Delhi, located about 12 km from
Indira Gandhi International Airport. The airport is next to the
Safdarjang Tomb, Delhi's famous landmark. Covering an area of 253 acres at an elevation of 695 ft, Safdarjung Airport is still used for aviation purposes. The runway is used by the Delhi Flying Club (DFC) and private firms for their small planes.
