Rupshi is a town situated in the
Dhubri District of
Assam. It is around 15 km from
Dhubri, the district headquarters. This is one of the few areas of
Assam which has been enjoying a prominent place in the tourism map. Rupshi has a history of its own and the old residential areas with palatial buildings speak of its glorious past.
Rupshi is endowed with green valley of forests and hilly areas. An airport constructed during the World War II by the British exclusively for military operation is situated here. This airport is now non-functional and is under the National Airport Authority of India.
Sareswar Beel in this town finds mention in the tourism map of Asian Wetlands as a global biodiversity hotspot.
Sri Sri Ramrai Kuti Satra at Satrasal is the major tourist attraction.
The town is 227 km west of
Guwahati. Dhubri Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
