Rungli Rungliot, which literally means ‘thus far and no further’, is a quaint village famous for tea gardens and is situated on the way from
Gangtok to
Darjeeling, in
West Bengal.
Legend says that an itinerant monk’s search for the ultimate tea ended here, whence he proclaimed “Rungli Rungliot”.
Major attraction of Rungli Rungliot is its enchanting tea gardens. Special permission must be obtained before taking a stroll around the estates. A move around on horseback or mountain bikes is permitted at times in some estates. The gushing waters of Teesta River, located below, is an ideal place for white water rafting.
Nearest airport is Bagdogra (90 km from Darjeeling). Darjeeling Railway Station is the closest railhead.
