Rudranath Temple




One of the Panchakedar shrines, Rudranath Temple is a natural rock temple situated at an altitude of 2,286 meters. The face of Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Neelkantha Mahadev. The holy tanks of Suryakund, Chandrakund and Tarakund are situated near the temple while Baitarini River flows behind it. From the temple one can see Hathi Parvat, Nanda Devi Peak and Trishul peak. The temple can be reached by a 20 km-trek through thick forests from Sagar village, which is connected to Gopeshwar by a four km motorable road. The temple is located 45 km from Joshimath.
