Rudrama Devi ruled the
Kakatiya Kingdom from 1262 to 1296. She was the daughter of Ganapatideva and ascended the throne, as the King had no sons. Her husband died at an early age. During her reign, the Yadava,
Chola and
Pandya kings attacked the Kakatiya Kingdom from all sides. But she fought against them, repulsed all their invasions and protected the kingdom. The Venetian traveler Marco Polo who visited her kingdom, has paid glowing tributes to her administrative abilities.
