Lying on the banks of the rivers Mula and Mutha, Royal Connaught Boat Club offers sports facilities. Established in 1868, this internationally known club is on Boat Club Road in
Pune,
Maharashtra.
Initially the club was known as Poona Boat Club. In order to honor the duke of Connaught (the commander-in-chief of Bombay army), the club was named as 'Poona Royal Connaught Boat Club' in 1889. Later in 1928 this name was changed to its present one.
Indoor and outdoor activities such as cards, table tennis, billiards, swimming, and boating/rowing can be enjoyed. There is a conference hall, health club, restaurant, bar and children's playground inside the club. Lodging is provided in AC and non AC rooms with five-star facilities.
Guests are allowed when accompanied by the club member. Casual dresses are recommended.
The club hosts events including New Year eve dance, the May Queen Pageant, Dandia Raas (event to welcome Dandia Raas festival), food festival, movie shows and other cultural programs. Variety of games, horse riding, mini-giant wheel, merry-go-around are the activities during Diwali season. Royal Connaught Boat Club is a venue for social occasions and parties.
