Rock Garden

Rock Garden is located between the Capital Complex and Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh. Opened in 1976, this unique sculpture garden is spread over 64 acres. The garden displays several art objects made from industrial and urban waste - broken chinaware, discarded fluorescent tubes, broken glass bangles, coal and clay.

Rock Garden, with its walls built of terracotta pots and the way leading through a maze of paths, chambers and canyons, presents the glimpse of a fantasy world. With 14 chambers, the garden houses a wonderful waterfall, pools, open air exhibition hall and an open air theatre.

The garden features a large variety of animal statues which reveals an appreciation and concern for the diverse wildlife found on the Indian subcontinent. A group of creatures resembling the ubiquitous brown macaque monkeys as well as different varieties of birds are also represented.

The buildings in the garden show high resemblance to Mughal traditions.

Rock Garden is open from 10:00 to 19:00 hrs on all days except Thursday and official holidays.
