Robertson College, one of the oldest educational institutions in
Madhya Pradesh, is situated in
Jabalpur. It began as a school at Saugor in 1836, progressively upgraded to collegiate status in 1896 and transfered to Jabalpur. The college was split into Government Science College and Mahakoshal Arts College in 1962. The Science College became a model college in 1985, gained autonomous status in 1988 and received an 'A' grade from the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC).
