India became a republic nation on January 26, 1950. The Constitution of India came into existence on the same day. Commemorating this occasion, Indians celebrate Republic Day on January 26 every year. A grand Republic Day parade is held in

India Gate till the
Red Fort. The event includes parades of various regiments of the army, navy, air force, CRPF, police, BSF, NCC, NSS, ex-servicemen, dance performances by school children and folk dancers from all over the country and floats from various states representing their traditional culture. The President, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries participate in the celebrations. On this day, the President gives away the gallantry awards to personnel from the armed forces.
