Started in 1986, Regional Engineering College is located in
Hamirpur,
Himachal Pradesh. It was established as a joint and co-operative enterprise of the Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh.
This college is one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges in the country. It was primarily started to impart bachelor degree programs in Civil and Electrical Engineering. But later, the college started undergraduate programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Architecture.
The college is an autonomous institution under the Himachal Pradesh University. Financial aid for the college comes from both Central and State governments. Fifty percent of the seats are reserved for the students of Himachal Pradesh and the remaining seats for students from other states. A few seats have been reserved for foreign students under the self-financing scheme of Government of India.
The eligibility for the admission is a pass in the plus-two examination. Those candidates seeking admission to any of the 17 RECs are required to submit a single application form only.
