Rava Tribe who resides in the northern part of
West Bengal loves folk dances, which are collectively called Rava Dances. These dances are colorful and rhythmic accompanied by melodious music. The theme includes the daily lives of Rava community and joys of various festivals.
Among the Rava Dances, Fai Nang Mein (welcome dance), Nak Chung Baini (the dances evocative of catching prawn), Baishar Bidan (New Year’s dance) and Larai Lunji (war dance) are famous. These dances are mainly performed by the women-folk of the community.
