Ranjankudi Fort is located 17 km north of
Perambalur. The fort which dates back to the 17th century was built by a Jagirdar under the Nawab of Carnatic. The walls of the fort are built using neatly cut stone blocks. There are three fortification walls at different heights. The fort is now under the control of Archaeological Survey of India. The fort houses a palace, residential buildings, underground chambers, flag mast, and a mosque. The fort was involved in the battle of Valikondah in 1751.
