Rani Gumpha




Rani Gumpha, one the largest and most beautiful of the Udayagiri Caves and Khandagiri Caves, is located at Bhubaneswar in Orissa. This double storeyed cave with rock cut chambers has elaborate sculptural friezes of women dancing and playing music, kings and queens in courtly splendor, rampaging elephants and panicking monkeys. The sculptures, famous for its animation has been compared with the famous sculpted Four Gate Ways at Sanchi.
