Bankapura, a town situated in
Haveri District of
Karnataka, is renowned for the Ranganatha Nagareshwara temple. This is a temple containing some fine specimens of stone carvings. Built entirely from grey stone, it is a living testimony to the grandeur of the past. The roof structure is supported by 60 pillars, each one embellished by exquisite carvings. Worth noting is the ceiling, which contains the major share of the intricate craftsmanship.
