Ranchi University

Started in 1960, Ranchi University has 22 post graduate departments. About 72 colleges including four professional colleges come under this university. Vocational courses such as Computer Application (Honours), Computer Maintenance, and Watershed Management have been introduced in some of its colleges. The university conducts special coaching classes for competitive examinations for students of the scheduled tribes and scheduled castes. The university promotes sports and cultural activities. Regular cultural activities at the college and the university level are organized. The university has a central library, computer center, tabulation center, academic staff college, regional language department and a monitoring cell.
