Ramalinga Temple




Ramalinga Temple is an ancient temple situated at B K Halli in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. The four ft tall deities of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Hanuman are enshrined here. This is a rare temple where one can find all the brothers of Lord Ram beside each other in the sanctum sanctorum. A separate shrine of Lord Ganesh is seen outside the temple. The idols are carved in Chalukya style of architecture with soft stone and smooth finishing. The walls of the temple are adorned with paintings in pre Vijayanagar, post Vijayanagar and 18th century styles. Visitors can enjoy the depictions of the great epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata as well as those of Vishnu’s Dashavatar, Krishna Leela and personalities from more recent history like the British and the Peshwas. Goa Airport is the nearest airport. Karwar Railway Station is the nearby railhead.
