Ramakrishna Mission Ashram is located in
Chapra, at the confluence of the
Ganga and the
Sarayu, in
Saran District of
Bihar. The
ashram was opened by the
Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math on
Ramnavami day in 2003. It is the first center of its kind to be started in Bihar after the independence of India.
Chapra center has its significance as the birth place of Swami Adbhutananda (Latu Maharaj), the only disciple of Sri Ramakrishna who was born outside West Bengal. The ashram provides free basic education centre, uplifting of talented students, free dispensary, free library, computer literacy projects and Institute for Personality Integration.
