Ram Bagh is a beautiful garden located around the summer palace of
Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It is named as a tribute to Guru Ram Das, the founder of the
Amritsar.
On one end of the garden, there is a lively statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh saddled on a horse in a winsome posture. The huge fortified gate, which was used to approach the garden, still exists on the periphery of the garden.
The palace now functions as a museum, known by the name Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. It contains weapons of the Mughal age, and portraits of the ex-monarchs of the Punjab. A replica of the Kohinoor Diamond is also maintained in the museum.
Ram Bagh is closed on Wednesdays.
