Ralegan Siddhi is a village near
Parner in
Ahmednagar District of
Maharashtra. Ralegan Siddhi is to the north-east of
Pune city.
Formerly one of the poorest villages in India, Ralegan Siddhi is now transformed into a rich village under the leadership and guidance of Anna Hazare, a well-known social worker. Anna Hazare, with the collective support of the villagers, constructed ponds and reservoirs and introduced several innovative changes in the village.
Ralegan Siddhi presently serves as a model of environmental conservation. The hills in the area have been terraced to check erosion. The large canals on either side retain rain water and as a result, the wells and tube wells in the village never get dry. Besides, there is a large windmill for pumping water and most of the households have their own biogas plants.
Pune Lohegaon Airport and Sarola Railway Station are the nearest access points. Ahmednagar Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
