Rakchham is a small village situated on the banks of
Baspa River, in
Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of 2900 m above sea level, this beautiful hamlet is noted for its panoramic beauty and its unique positioning. It is located at the western extremity of a narrow vale and at the base a huge mass of bare rock, which rises abruptly in numerous black spires above the hamlet.
Rakchham is derived from ‘Rak’ means a stone and ‘Cham’ a bridge. It is believed that there was a natural stone bridge over the river, hence the name.
Rakchham is 13 km on the way to Chitkul from
Sangla.
