Rajpath, also known as King's way, was designed in 1921 by Lutyens, a British resident. This road stretches from the
Rashtrapati Bhavan to National Stadium in
New Delhi and is more than 3 km long. It is flanked with ornamental ponds and lawns.
India Gate, the historical monument, is positioned towards the eastern end of Rajpath. The
Republic Day parade, on January 26 every year, is performed on this road.
In Indian languages, especially in Hindi, the word 'Raj' means 'King' and 'path' stands for 'way.'
