Rajarajeswara Temple

The Taliparamba Rajarajeswara Temple is located at Taliparamba in Kannur District in northern Kerala. This is one of the trinity of temples in the region - the other two being the Vaidyanatha Siva temple at Kanjirangat and the Krishna temple at Trichambaram.

This temple is regarded as one of the 108 ancient Siva temples of Kerala. The Sivalinga here is believed to be thousands of years old — one of the three given by Lord Shiva himself to Parvati for worship. Legend has it that the head of Devi Sati fell here after Sati's self-immolation. It is also believed that Lord Ram, during his victorious return to Ayodhya from Lanka, stopped here to offer worship to Siva. In honor of his presence, devotees are not allowed into the namaskara mandapam even today.

The temple is about 25 km from Kannur town, and about 1 km north of Taliparamba town.
