Punjab Agricultural University is located on
Ludhiana -
Ferozepur Road in Ludhiana and about 316 km from
New Delhi.
Established in 1962, this State University promotes teaching, research and extension in agriculture, agricultural engineering, veterinary and animal sciences, home science and allied disciplines. The university has about 50 departments in five constituent colleges, namely, College of Agriculture,
College of Agricultural Engineering, College of Veterinary Science, College of Home science and College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Master's and Ph D programs are awarded by the university.
Its Directorate of Research carries out research projects in various aspects. Directorate of Extension Education offers specialized training courses for the benefit of the farmers and development staff at the university headquarters as well as at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK's). It also organizes workshops, farmer's fairs, three months young farmers training course and correspondence courses for farmers and farm women.
