Pujeli

Pujeli is a picturesque village situated near the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi District. It lies on the Har-Ki-Doon and Ruinsara Tal trek route. Main attraction in the village is the three layered temple. Tons River flows close by. The village nestles among forests of oaks, rhododendrons and deodars. It offers panoramic views of high snow-clad mountain ranges and deep valleys all around. Nearby places to visit are Pujeli Hills, Sankri, Osla, Mori, Rala, Ludgyard and Taluka.

The village houses are built using wood and stone. The two- or three-storey houses are covered with rustic plaster. The ground floor is used for housing the cattle, the second floor used for smaller animals and the top floor used by the family. The roofs are constructed with slates balanced between wooden beams. The house is surrounded by flagstone courtyards, which are used to dry and sort grains, wheat and rice. All these grains are stored in a separate wooden structure. Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport and the nearest railway station is at Dehradun.
