Prasanna Kesava Devalaya




Prasanna Kesava Devalaya is a famous shrine located at Somnathpur, 35 km from Mysore in Karnataka. This is a three-storied temple, noted for its architectural excellence. Built in AD 1269 by Somanatha, the grandson of Hoyasala Narasimha II, Prasanna Kesava Temple has shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Varaha, Lord Krishna, Narasimha, Lord Brahma, Surya and Lord Ganesh. In architecture, this temple resembles the famous Chennakesava Temple of Belur. Placed on a high plinth, the temple has three pyramidal towers and looks like a star. The walls are adorned with numerous sculptural images. The nearest airport is at Bangalore.
