Affiliated to
Pondicherry University, the Pondicherry Engineering College was started in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. Managed by a board of governors, the institute is purely autonomous for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and college development.
The college offers B.Tech and M.Tech courses in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication and Instrumentation Engineering along with UG and PG courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Humanities. The library houses more than 30,000 volumes and periodicals. The library is networked with MALIBNET (Madras Library Network), connecting it with 50 odd libraries in and around Chennai. Other facilities in the campus include a central computing facility and a well equipped workshop.
