Famous as the test site for India's nuclear program, Pokhran is located in
Jaisalmer District of
Rajasthan. It is about 110 km east of
Jaisalmer. It is spelt as Pokharan, Pokaran, Pokran.
The nuclear test range is deep inside the Thar Desert and is about 20 km northwest of Pokhran. Pokhran Fort and Pokhran Museum are the main attractions here.
Pokhran Railway Station is on the Jhodpur – Jaisalmer rail route. Jodhpur Airport is the nearest airport.
