Piral is a nomadic tribe residing in the states of
Himachal Pradesh. They mainly engage in the raising of livestock, particularly goats. Thus in Himachal Pradesh, goatherds are called by the name Piral.
Marriage customs of Pirals have some similarity with those of the Hindus. People belonging to this tribal group are brave and hard working. They love festivities of all kinds.
During winter, they come down to Kangra District and the forests of Hoshiarpur District. In summer, they live along the banks of the river Chandrabhaga in Lahaul.
