Peruvanam village is situated about 12 km from
Thrissur. The place is famous for the
Mahadev temple, dedicated to
Lord Shiva. The temple is noted for its sculptural value.
The main attraction of the village is the Peruvanam Pooram, which is celebrated as the annual festival of Mahadev temple. Devotees throng the temple in large numbers, during the festival.
According to legend, of the 64 gramams or sections, which Parashurama created after reclaiming Kerala from the sea, Peruvanam remained for centuries as the greatest gramam.
Peruvanam can be easily accessed from Thrissur by road.
