Founded in 1985 at
New Delhi, Penguin Books India is one of the largest English language trade publishers in the subcontinent. The company publishes its own books and distributes books from overseas publishers such as the Penguin Group, Time Warner Books Group UK, Faber and Faber, BBC Books, Ladybird, Dorling Kindersley, Transworld and Bloomsbury.
Penguin began publishing in 1987 with seven titles. Today, it issues over 200 titles every year and has an active backlist of over 750 titles.
Apart from strong fiction and narrative non-fiction list, Penguin India has published almost all genres of books, including self-help, cookery, reference and quizzing, biography, travel, picture books, business, politics, history, health and fitness, religion and philosophy, sports and leisure.
