Patua Jatra and Chandak Puja, related to the Banda Jatra, are celebrated in
Orissa aimed at propitiation of Lord Shiva for benefits. A kind of ritualistic festival, these festivals are associated with self inflicted penance. They fall in the month of Vaishakha (April-May).
