Pataleshwar Cave Temple is an 8th century rock-cut temple located at Shivaji Nagar in
Pune District of
Maharashtra. It is in the middle of the busy street of Jangli Maharaj Road in
Pune.
This cave temple is dedicated to Lord Pataleshwar. Believed to have been hewn from a single rock, it has massive pillars. It is of similar architecture and design as that of the rock temples at Elephanta. A Shiva shrine and a circular Nandi mandapam are located in the front.
Close to Pataleshwar Cave Temple is the Jangali Maharaj Temple dedicated to a Hindu ascetic, who died here in 1818.
