Patakom
Patakom is a dance form similar to the Koothu in its technical content. The word 'Patakom' literally means dissertation. In this dance form, the narration is done through an alternate prose and song sequences. A new literary form called Champu, with more Malayalam idiom and vocabulary, is used as text for Patakom. Patakom is usually performed by the persons from Nambiyar community. The dancers smear sandalwood paste on their forehead. A red towel around the head and a red silk around the waist form part of the costume.
