A prominent town, Panki lies in the eastern edge of Palamu District and is near the district's border with Chatra District. It is around 45 km west of Daltonganj.
The scenic place of Kunda is about 27 km to the east. Some interesting spots worth visiting around the town are Khaya Banaroo and Bichkiliya, Kunda Cave and Kothi and Kunda Forts. Neighbouring towns are Lesliganj, Kundri, Manatu, Herhanj and Rewad.
