Panchalimedu is a view point and an ideal trekking place for tourists in
Idukki District of
Kerala. It is situated 7 km from
Mundakayam-
Kuttikkanam stretch on the
Kottayam-
Kumily road. Panchalimedu lies at an altitude of about 2500 ft above sea level.
It is believed that the Pandavas and their wife Panchali spent a short time here during their Agyant Baas (exile). A pond known as Panchalikkulam is worth visiting here. The divine light 'Makara Jyothi' of the famous Sabarimala can be viewed from this place.
Paradisa Plantation Retreat is situated half a kilometer from Panchalimedu. It is a 3-hour trek to Panchalimedu from Vallinankavu, a tiny village famous for the temple of Mala araya community. The place is also connected by bus service from Kottayam.
