Palaj village is located in Petlad taluk, in
Anand District,
Gujarat. History tells us that this place was founded by shepherds named Pala, after whom the village derived its name, Palaj. About 10,000 people reside in this village. Agriculture and animal breading are the main occupation of the villagers. There are one sugar factory, four cigarette manufacturing units, two sawmills, a petrol pump, and eight tobacco store houses in the village.
