Situated about 50 km from
Warangal, the Pakhal Lake is tucked amidst hills and forest. This man-made lake was completed in AD 1213 by the
Kakatiyas, by harnessing a small tributary of the
Krishna River.
It spreads over an area of 30 sq km and is a fine picnic spot in Warangal. Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is located around its shoreline. A guesthouse run by the Forest Department is located on the shores of the lake.
