Padres Santos Chapel, also known as the Martyrs Chapel, is a mausoleum chapel in
Agra, built by Christian missionaries on a piece of land granted by
Akbar. The chapel stands in the burial place known as the
Martyr's Cemetery.
The name Padres Santos is derived from the Portuguese expression meaning the cemetery of the Priests. The chapel was a memorial to the Fathers who were martyred in 1633. Priests from various nations such as Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Italy are buried here.
