Oyyavandar Temple




Oyyavandar Temple is located at Tirukudalar, about 12 km from Tiruvaiyaru, in Thanjavur District. The temple was built by Rani Mangammal during the 15th century. It has a five tired rajagopuram and is enshrined with Vaiyamkaatta Perumaal (Jagatrakshakan) in a standing posture. The goddess of the temple is known as Padmasini or Pushpavalli. This Vaishnavite temple also has many inscriptions carved on the pillars. The main festival is the annual Bhramotsavam celebrated in the month of Vaikasi. The temple can be approached by traveling of 6 km from Iyyampettai railway station.
