Beyond being a pilgrim center, the temple is a place of scenic beauty for travelers. It stands on a stonework plinth on the side of a hillock, surrounded by rivulets and paddy fields.
The annual festival of the temple falls in the month of Meenam (March-April). Janmashtami, Mahashivaratri and Navratri are celebrated in a grand manner.
Velinalloor Sree Rama Swamy Temple, Peykavu, Mathiyodu Madan Kavu, Kaithakkal Devi Temple and Kottarakara Ganapathi Temple are the nearby seats of worship.
