Situated on the bank of the
river Ganges, Outram Ghat is named after General Sir James Outram. It is in the south of Babughat, used as a main port for ships to Bangladesh and Burma. The ships from Rangoon used to harbour in this port. You can find the mausoleum of Job Charnock, and can view the Vidyasagar Setu Bridge from here.
Now Outram Ghat has an Explorers Club, association for marine adventurers. There is also a floating restaurant. Country boats are available for hire.
Red Road, the venue for the Republic Day parade, leads one to Outram Ghat.
