Open Hand Monument




The Open Hand Monument is situated in the Capital Complex in Sector 1, in Chandigarh. Designed by Le Corbusier in the model of a giant hand emblem, it is the official emblem of the city. It is made of a metal sheet which rises 26 m from a sunken trench and rotates freely in the wind from a high concrete pedestal, conveying the message ‘Open to give, open to receive’.
